President-elect Donald Trump announced the appointment of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) on Thursday, marking a significant shift in the department’s direction toward health transparency and reform.

“I am thrilled to announce Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of Health and Human Services,” Trump said. “For too long, Americans have been subjected to misinformation from the industrial food complex and pharmaceutical companies. This administration will prioritize the safety and health of all Americans, and HHS will play a key role in ensuring protection from harmful chemicals, pollutants, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, and food additives that have contributed to the health crisis in this country. Mr. Kennedy will lead the charge in restoring these agencies to their roots in scientific excellence and transparency, ending the epidemic of chronic disease, and making America healthy again.”

Kennedy vs. Levine

Policies under current HHS Secretary Rachel Levine have forced gender transition and affirming care, and comprehensive public health responses. In contrast, Bobby Kennedy’s HHS is expected to focus on individual health autonomy, transparency in pharmaceutical practices, and stricter regulations on environmental and food safety standards, prioritizing personal choice and natural health alternatives.

A Shared Vision to “Make America Healthy Again”

Kennedy brings a substantial government agency litigation experience as well as public health advocacy and a commitment to challenging entrenched interests. After initially running as a Democrat, he shifted to an independent campaign before endorsing Trump and joining his campaign, advocating for a new era of American health policy.

“RFK Jr. and Trump are committed to health reform that prioritizes public wellbeing over corporate interests,” said Karoline Leavitt, Trump’s transition team spokesperson. “Kennedy is a once-in-a-generation thought leader. His independent mind and critical thinking will be a powerful force in Washington.”

Kennedy’s Commitment to Reform within HHS

As Secretary, Kennedy intends to evaluate leadership within key agencies, such as the FDA and CDC, to ensure they prioritize health protection. “In some departments, like nutrition in the FDA, reform is essential,” Kennedy said. “We need to protect our kids and ensure Americans have access to safer, healthier foods.”

Policies for the People Initiative

Earlier this week, Kennedy launched “Policies for the People,” a platform inviting Americans to share suggestions for Trump’s second administration. This initiative allows citizens to contribute ideas for over 4,000 appointments across the executive branch, supporting the administration’s commitment to “draining the swamp.”

A Transparent Future for American Government

In line with Trump’s vision, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by tech billionaire Elon Musk, will work alongside Kennedy to eliminate government waste and restructure federal agencies.

With this strategic team in place, the Trump administration is poised to usher in a new era of American health policy focused on transparency, individual rights, and a commitment to “making America healthy again.”
